~Hunt Family Both Mourns and Celebrates~ Marilynn Y. Hunt: September 18, 1956— March 2, 2022

Marilynn... ‘A Living Sacrifice… Holy and Acceptable Unto God’

If you knew my sister, Marilynn Y. Hunt, you knew she was a believer in God and His Word. God’s use of Marilynn was truly in mysterious ways. I miss her dearly.

As the Word of God says in Revelation 14:13— And I heard a voice from Heaven, saying unto me, “Write: ’Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth.’” “Yea,” saith the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them.” And for sure, this shall be of Marilynn. She may teach/reach more in death than in life.

Today, I give honor to her life and the many things that she did on behalf of the KOG and BOC for God, for family, for friends, for strangers, for me and for many who will read this tribute. Today, I give honor to her for being a Keeper of the Faith… NO MATTER WHAT!

DUMAS MEMORIAL SERVICE | MARCH 18

As multiple plans are being made to honor her life and legacy, please know that a special Memorial Celebration in her honor will be in Dumas for the Hometown on March 18. Details are coming within the next few days. Please continue to hold up our family in prayer for strength, comfort, wisdom and love.

And yes, I chose this photo of Marilynn at an MLK Event that I did. And just like Marilynn, she upstaged everybody, including Dr. Rance Allen. She left us on the 63rd birthday anniversary of our sister, Lawana who transitioned 11 years ago. Missing both of them and loving all of us who are still here.

 Love and blessings,

ALH-jr

  1. Very well said, Pastor Hunt!
Though we gained many "god-siblings" over the years, Marilyn was our first god-sister.
She taught me so much in life...she led me to Christ when I was a young child. She lined all us kids up on the couch and explained to us how we were all born in sin because of Adam and Eve disobeying God. She put emphasis on the fact that their lack of trust in what God told them was the bigger issue. I remember kneeling with her at our piano bench and praying to God for my salvation.
My sisters, brothers and I had so much fun with Marilyn and the Hunt family.

    Rest in love, Big Sister!

  3. I will miss Marilyn so much. I cannot forget the times she, Linda and I connected over the phone and had church. Marilyn was always in charge. She would lead the prayer, share the Word and tell me what to sing.

We had many fun times together. Some of our experiences during our road trips are unforgettable. But I will cherish most, our endearing friendship which survived through some difficult times.

  4. When I was a young, and before Marilyn moved away, she would always remind me that she was the one who named me Brian O'Neal, after the actor Ryan O'Neal. I grew up sharing this, as people inquired about the origin of my name. Thank you for the wonderful gift, as I say my name, I think of you. You will be missed, but fret not, as God gains a new angel.
